To bring to life the people and story behind Civilla’s Project Reform—a key case study in Practica’s Applications course—we created a short documentary on one of the project’s influential contributors, Detroit native LaTina Denson.

I led the search for video production partners for the project, and ultimately chose to partner with TAPI Story, a two-person team from Austin, TX. We worked collaboratively for several months, developing a concept for the video informed by Civilla’s storytelling priorities and audience learning objectives, filmed over two visits to Detroit. I managed communication between TAPI and Civilla, client-side production logistics, narrative reviews, scriptwriting, interview research and prep, sourcing of archival and photographic assets, and creative and QA reviews, from rough cut through final cut.
